The solutions being offered to remodel transport in Williamson County
Statistics show that American Commuters spend more than 42 hours annually stuck in traffic snarl-ups. In addition to these, there is evidence to show that an average of 160 billion dollars is lost by the economy as a result of the effects of traffic jams.
The money that is lost comes from the extra gas that is burned sitting in traffic, missed productivity at work and the additional wear and tear to the vehicles during the jam. One of the parts of the country that have been taking these statistics very seriously is the Williamson County. A while back, they discussed this issue at the county assembly meeting.
The first issue that was brought to the front of the discussion was the fact that the world is changing very fast and as technological advancements keep taking place, the industry might have to rise up to meet the need.
An example that was offered was that of the driverless cars that companies like Google have been testing. For such a technology to work effectively, it would have to be in a place with little or no traffic jam at all.
The other thing that was noted was that the population of the community was expanding and with the expansion, it was becoming hard for the present infrastructure to meet the needs that were present. Learn more about Mike Heiligenstein: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mikeheiligenstein
The rise of the population is seen to have resulted from the frequent rural to urban migration of the people. For the systems to perform well, the people were encouraged to create roads that are smarter, technically advanced and very efficient.
Another question that was raised by the residents was what the administration of the county was doing about the sharp population increase and the pressure it was exerting on the infrastructure.
They stated that one of the things they were happy about was the land codes that had remained favorable. They felt that these would assist in the improvement of the entire transportation system.
